Narrative Description of the Project:
The Making Markets Work for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C) is a project mandated by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh and the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives implemented by Swisscontact and Rural Development Academy, Bogura. The project main aims is to reduce poverty and vulnerability of char households, primarily in northern Bangladesh, by facilitating market systems that enhance opportunities for employment, income generation and improved resilience.
Under this project IPTM was awarded an assignment for improving the lifestyle, occupational and organizational growth by developing the capacity of the Agro-Input Company (AIC) sales staff working in the chars, hence supporting increased agro-input sales in the char region under Making Markets Work for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C), Swisscontact. Under this assignment, a total of 240 participants received training in 08(eight) batches at RDRS Rangpur, SKS INN Gaibandha and Luis Village Jamalpur. The training was enhanced the capacity of the AIC sales staff to discover potential opportunities to increase sales by creating and linking new sales market and equip and motivated AIC’s sales staff to generate sales per the target.
