Narrative Description of the Project:
This assignment was undertaken by the Non-Communicable Disease Control Program (NCDC) under Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The project's primary goal is to reduce the prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)-related mortality and morbidity in Bangladesh by improving healthcare service delivery and managing risk factors. The length of this assignment was 2 months (May to June 2023) and the location was Faridganj and Hajiganj, two upazilas in Chandpur district of Bangladesh.
Under this assignment, IPTM conducted research to analyze the current system and the situation of a current digital system and evaluate the impact of the digital NCD management system on improving access to health care delivery services, the quality of health care delivery, and patient outcomes, including laboratory investigations and medication adherence. For the conducted survey, IPTM conduced a ToT on a mobile application named ‘SIMPLE APP' using a system for research associate and also conducted a training session on mobile application named ‘SIMPLE APP' using a system how to collate real-time data of NCD patients at the NCD Corner for doctors, senior staff members, nurses, and 30 CHCPs actively engaged in the training program in Faridganj and Hajiganj Upazila, Chandpur. The focus of this survey primarily revolved around two types of diseases: diabetes and hypertension. In total, there were 763 referral patients documented using the SIMPLE APP in the Community Clinics (CCs). The main objective of the assignment was to digitalize the NCD management model (WHO PEN) through the NCD digital system in sub-districts of Bangladesh under the NCDC and DGHS.
