Narrative Description of the Project:
The Strengthening & Modernization of Apprenticeship Offices under BMET in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Khulna (1st Revised) Project under Bureau of Manpower Employment & Training (BMET), aiming to provide industry and factory-based skills training and ensure the availability of quality training and create skilled manpower for all sectors.
One such initiative of this project was “Local Training of Trainees/Apprentices”, on-the job and off-the-job training an initiative which was successfully completed by IPTM from April to December 2022. The assignment location covered 05 organization/training institutes (Akhtar Group, Olympic Industries Ltd., Apex Food Wear Ltd., Brothers Furniture Ltd., Prin Agriucultural Marketing Ltd.) situated in Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Narsingdi of Bangladesh. Under this assignment, a total of 400 participants received on-the-job and off-the-job training in 11 (eleven) batches. The main objective of the assignment was to equip the trainees/apprentices with on-the-job practical skills under real working conditions in the RMG sector under BMET.
Key Activities:
- Prepared workplan
- Inception report with the detailed program and finalized work plan
- Selection of appropriate male and female unemployed youth
- Provided information to the BMET of the selected trainees/apprentices.
- Finalized trainees/apprentices based on industry.
- Developed and printed nine (9) Competency Skills Logbooks (CSLB) with the support of a TVET Consultant and printed 440 copies of the CSLBs for distribution to the trainees/apprentices and other relevant personnel.
- Developed Training of Trainer materials for Apprenticeship management
- Organized and conducted day-long Training of Trainers (ToT) for the supervisors and relevant personnel to orient them on apprenticeship management.
- Conducted on-the-job and off-the-job training
- Submitted Training of Trainers (TOT) report to BMET
- Training completion report submitted
