Narrative Description of the Project:
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is working to improve the livelihoods of the refugees and host communities in the selected areas of Ukhiya and Rohingya Camps with other DRC’s sectoral interventions like protection, shelter, and site development support. The DRC aims to enhance the lives of both the host community and refugees in the Ukhiya and Rohingya camps. This training in sewing is designed to empower women from Palongkhali and Rajapalog unions and Camps-8, enabling them to contribute to their families income and build their self-assurance. The training's main objective is to assist women in the host community and the camps in boosting their family’s income or maintaining their families. IPTM conducted training under this assignment for two months, from November to December 2020, and the training occurred in Palongkhali and Rajapalog unions and Camps-8 union under the Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar. The 40 participants received 10-day long practical training to develop their sewing abilities in two batches.
Key Activities:
- Inception meeting with DRC officials and submitted the inception report.
- Conducted Training Needs Assessment (TNA) and review of the relevant documents of the project
- Developed the training module on sewing (English and Bengali)
- Conducted training program on sewing for (2 batches)
- Conducted pre & post assessment
- Submitted final report of the training of the assignment along with key findings and recommendations for future intervention as per the proposed reporting outline by DRC
