Narrative Description of the Project:
Education is considered as one of the important ingredients for social and economic development of the country and help in reducing the poverty. The Third Primary Education Development Program (PEDP-III), Directorate of Primary Education (DPE), Ministry of Primary & Mass Education was a 5 years sub-sector wide program (FY 2011-12 to FY 2015-16), focused on achievement of sub-sector wide results, covering all activities of primary education and MOPME. The goal of PEDP-III was to provide quality education for all children of primary education and reduce social disparities in terms of access to education.
The main objective of the assignment was to organize and implement a study tour program on ‘School Management, Better Administration & Involvement of Society’ in Colombo & Kandy, Sri Lanka for PEDP-3. Through this study tour, PEDP-3 official’s under the assistance from IPTM, were committed to learn the best practices of school management system and administration strategies of Sri Lanka and apply it in the context of Bangladesh in order to ensure quality primary education, reduce dropout rate, improve teaching system, reduce social disparities and decentralize and effective organization of the primary education system. The duration of this assignment was of 03 months (from December 2015 to February 2016). Under this assignment, a total of 09 officials attended the program.
