Narrative Description of the Project:
The Government of Bangladesh (GoB) intended to enhance the capacity of urban local bodies (ULBs) in development and management of urban infrastructure, and improve municipal governance and services through undertaking the Municipal Governance and Services Project (MGSP) in selected Pourashavas and City Corporations. The objective of the project for Bangladesh was to improve municipal governance and basic urban services in participating Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), and to improve recipient's capacity to respond promptly and effectively to an eligible crisis or emergency. The core objective of this assignment was to organize and implement an overseas study-tour program titled ‘High level Knowledge Exchange’ in USA & Brazil for Municipal Governance and Services Project (MGSP)P of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). Through this study tour, LGED with the assistance from IPTM, were committed to learn the urbanization system of USA and Brazil and apply it in Bangladesh in a way which will strengthen the beneficial aspects and minimize the negative aspects of urbanization in Bangladesh. IPTM conducted this study tour from January to March 2016. Under this assignment, a total of 14 officials of MGSP of LGED participated in the study tour program.
